IMLS

The Institute of Museum and Library Services is the federal support for libraries in your state and community. It drives innovation in libraries across the country. New ideas, odd ideas, ideas that your library could never get money for get their funding from IMLS. They make the crazy ideas happen which get passed on to other libraries. Most of the funding for State Libraries comes from IMLS as well so if you love your local state library then you gotta support IMLS because without those funds it will be a very different place. Last year the funding for IMLS was $240 million. That is less than one F-22 fighter jet, it is barely a rounding error in the Federal budget. Please go see if your elected officials have supported funding for IMLS. If they haven’t then go ahead and reach out to them and tell them why they should.
